Tobin Olson, principal appraiser
Slab Valuation is led by Tobin Olson, a Colorado Certified General Appraiser (License CG200004167) and Member of the Appraisal Institute. Tobin inspects each property, builds the analysis, and signs the report. He has worked in commercial real estate since 2013, most of it valuing industrial property for institutional owners.
His background is on the ownership side: development, acquisitions, dispositions, asset management, and leasing. He has underwritten deals as a buyer, managed assets as an owner, and worked with appraisers as their client. That owner's view of a property is why he founded Slab Valuation, and it shapes how we build our reports.
Experience
- 2025 to present: Slab ValuationFounder and principal appraiser. Commercial appraisal across the Denver metro and Colorado.
- 2019 to present: institutional industrial fund managerLeads quarterly valuations for an open ended industrial fund of roughly nine million square feet and $1 billion in net asset value, working with third party appraisers and the Altus valuation platform. Has underwritten and closed more than $400 million of industrial acquisitions. Author of a write up published in the NCREIF 3Q 2022 NPI report.
- 2015 to 2019: PrologisAs Valuations Associate, led East Region and Mexico valuations for a $17.5 billion industrial portfolio and worked with third party MAI appraisers across hundreds of assets. Supported three major portfolio acquisitions, including DCT Industrial. Earlier, as Research and Valuations Analyst, ran quarterly valuation analysis and market research.
- 2013 to 2015: CBREResearch Analyst supporting an industrial brokerage team with market analysis, quarterly reports, and deal underwriting.
